Greetings from Boston!

Hello! I'm still here - working up a storm and finally getting all my home issues dealt with. The water main was fixed, the electrical service entrance was fixed and the oil tank is in. It was not the way I wanted to end the summer, but what are you going to do.

Meanwhile, I wanted to share some of my favorite images from the Boston Public Libraries current exhibit called Greetings from Boston - a look at postcards dating back to the early 20th century. According to the exhibit information, in 1907, American's mailed over 677 Million postcards.

They were all the rage-the tweets of yesteryear! Below are some of my favorites from their Flickr site.

J'adore Boston... I would live there in a heartbeat if there was no snow... Fifi is NOT good in the cold!
BTW... my nephew has relocated there for work... I might have to make a visit!

I love old postcards as well. When ever we travel we always but postcards, usually new ones, but everynow and then we come across some terrific old ones. My family lives in Italy and a few years ago at a flea market near Pisa we found a stall selling some great postcards of Italians enjoying seaside holidays in the 1920's. Some were of a seaside town (Viareggio) where we used to go in the 1950's when I was a kid. Love your blog by the way.

I still mail out post cards when I travel. I think people love getting them in the mail and are always humored by them.

I went to Nantucket for one afternoon once and sent out postcards to friend. I thought it was funny that I was off the island before the postcard.
